Regular Meeting

 

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Halstad was duly called and held at the Halstad Telephone Company Community Room in said City on January 8, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.

 

                Mayor Brookshire presided at the meeting.

 

The following members were absent:  Renae Horning

                               

Tom Maroney moved to approve the Agenda.  Ron Gotteberg seconded the motion.  Unanimous

 

Minutes of the December meetings were examined and approved.  Motion for approval was made by Ron Gotteberg and seconded by Tom Maroney. Unanimous

 

                All claims for the month of December were examined.  Motion for approval was made by Ron Gotteberg and seconded by Tom Maroney Unanimous.

 

Ron Gotteberg moved to adjourn Sin Di.  Tom Maroney seconded the motion to adjourn.  Unanimous

 

Mayor Brookshire opened the January 2007 meeting.

 

Oath of Office was taken by Glen Brookshire, Shane Carlson, and Ron Gotteberg for their newly elected terms.

 

Ron Gotteberg introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption:

RESOLUTION APPOINTING AN NMPA BOARD MEMBER TO

NORTHERN MUNICIPAL POWER AGENCY

                BE IT RESOLVED by the City council of the City of Halstad, Minnesota, that pursuant to Section 3 of the Power Sales Agreement between Northern Municipal Power agency and the City of Halstad, that Dave Meyer hereby is appointed as the cities director on the NMPA Board and Glen Brookshire hereby is appointed as advisor to the agency.

 Tom Maroney seconded the motion.  Unanimous

 

After due consideration by the Council, the following motion of appointments was made Ron Gotteberg Utilities Commission:  Tom Maroney (1) one year, Steve Rude (2) two years, and Dan Duklet (3) three years.  Shane Carlson seconded the motion. Unanimous

 

A motion to accept the following general appointments was made by Tom Maroney:  Attorney - Tom Opheim; Newspaper – The Valley Journal; Bank - Red River State Bank; Fire Chief Todd Westcott; Rescue President Cheryl Hemberger; Weed Inspector - Glen Brookshire; Building and Zoning Committee City Council.  Shane Carlson seconded the motion. Unanimous

 

A Motion to accept the following committee appointments was made by Ron Gotteberg:  Tom Maroney - Street Commissioner,  Renae Horning - Park Commissioner – Shane Carlson Vice Mayor.  Tom Maroney seconded the motion.  Unanimous

 

Ron Gotteberg moved to increase the Fire Chief and Rescue Squad Presidents salaries to $75.00 per month. Glen Brookshire seconded the motion.  Unanimous

 

Mayor Brookshire appointed Shane Carlson to the EDA.

 

Ron Gotteberg moved to adjourn.  Tom Maroney seconded the motion.  The next regular meeting of the Council will be February 12, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.

Special Meeting

 

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Halstad was duly called and held at the Halstad Telephone Company Community Room in said City on January 18, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.

 

                Mayor Brookshire presided at the meeting.

 

The following members were absent:  Renae Horning

 

A motion was made by Ron Gotteberg to approve an On/Off Sale Liquor License and Cigarette License for Craig Peterson at the Halstad Tavern.  Shane Carlson seconded the motion.  Unanimous

 

Tom Maroney moved to adjourn.  Shane Carlson seconded the motion.  Unanimous
